Prepping your Skin for Summer
Summer can be great for your skin, or it can be really hard on it. The trick is all about how you take care of your body and what skincare products you should use.
The summer months also invite a change-up of your skincare routine. Whether its swapping out richer formulas for more lightweight alternatives, or dedicating some extra time to your body care routine, here are some simple steps to glow all season long.
1. Applying Sunscreen
Protect yourself from skin cancer, wear sunscreen, but do it by simply moisturising. You may not think it’s a big deal now when you are young, but if you don’t want to be fighting age spots, patchy skin or even cancerous growths when you are older, then you need a good SPF today.
2. Brighten & Protect with Vitamin C
Incorporating Vitamin C into your summer routine is a must for achieving bright, healthy looking skin. Knowns for its antioxidant properties, Vitamin C helps to neutralise free radicals caused by sun exposure and pollution which can lead to premature aging and dullness. It also plays a key role in boosting collagen production which keeps you skin firm and plump.
3. Smooth Things Out
Exfoliation is a crucial summer tip for skin, getting you through the summer months. This will help to get rid of excess dead skin that has built up over Winter, and will transition you into warmer weather. You do NOT need to do this every day, red raw skin does not equal a natural glow!!
4. Continue Cleansing
Cleansing is an all year round ritual, in the summer when you are wearing SPF and spending more time outside it is doubly important. Drop a gentle, hardworking gel or foam cleanser in your regime to ensure skin is getting a thorough clean, and sunscreen, make-up and dirt are sent packing at the end of the day!
